Athletes should arrive at least 1 hour before the meet starts. This gives them time to check in, warm up, get their poles ready, and prepare before the bar goes up.

Rule of thumb, most warmups start 1 hour or 45 minutes before the bar is up. We ask that you arrive at least 1 hour before the meet starts to give you plenty of time to warmup. For most meets, warmups begin at 11:00 AM and competition starts at 12:00 PM. The “4th of July” Jump Off will have a later start time, with competition beginning at 3:00 PM.

No, athletes do not have to bring their own poles. BPVA provides poles for jumpers of all ages and skill levels. Athletes are also welcome to bring and use their own poles if they have them.

Yes, parents, family members, and spectators are encouraged to come watch. These meets are designed to be competitive, fun, and community-focused, so we love having people there to support the athletes.

Food is not guaranteed at every meet. BPVA may grill out or offer food at select meets, but athletes and families are encouraged to bring their own snacks, drinks, and anything they may need throughout the day.

Yes, there is some seating available, but it can fill up quickly. We recommend bringing your own lawn chairs or blankets to make sure you have a comfortable place to watch.

Athletes qualify for the BPVA Summer Championship based on their marks from the first five regular summer meets. Each athlete’s top 3 marks from those meets will be added together to create their overall height leaderboard score.

To qualify, athletes must compete in at least 2 meets. The top 8 athletes in each group will be entered into the championship section for a chance to compete for the first annual BPVA Summer Championship title.

Yes. The championship meet will also include open registration for athletes who are not competing in the championship sections. This allows athletes to still come out, vault, compete, and be part of the final summer meet atmosphere.

No. The BPVA summer meets are open to athletes of different ages and skill levels. Whether an athlete is newer to pole vault or already competing at a high level, the meets are built to give them more opportunities to compete, improve, and enjoy the sport.

Athletes should bring water, snacks, athletic clothes, spikes if they use them, sunscreen, and their own poles if they prefer to use them. Families are encouraged to bring chairs, drinks, and anything else they may want while watching the meet.
